Feelings
by Meaghan Bionda
Mt Marrow State School, Mt Marrow, Qld

Embarrassed…….
Being laughed at
Having to stand in public
Not having any friends
Always having to go to school
Being sexually harassed
Embarrassed.

Happiness.....
Getting birthday presents
Playing with friends
Accepting awards for good behaviour
Seeing smiles on faces
People laughing
Happiness.

Suspicion.....
Do you sometimes get suspicious when
people are spreading rumours,
Do you wonder why people pass notes
or whisper behind your back
And whenever you walk past people
laugh.
Suspicion.

Curiosity.....
Do you ever get curious when;
People ask to go by themselves and talk,
When there are things said about you, like
rumours.
Are you curious when you see a guilty face
Curious.

Sad.....
Do you feel sad when people say you're
A fat pig or that you can't do anything special.
Do you feel sad when people say
Swear words about you.
Sad.

Second Prize

Little Kitten
by Jemima Williams
Homeschool, Karalee, Qld

Little kitten
Curled and furry
Close your eyes
In sleepy drowse.
It is very
Sweet to see you
Lying silky
On the lounge.
When you wake,
0, sleepy kitten,
Stretch your legs
And curl again.
Nothing can
Replace you, kitten
Warmth is always
Where you've lain.

Wake and open
Eyes so pretty.
When I’m unhappy,
I look to you!
Little kitten,
Sweet and kind,
Curled and furry,
Heart so true

Third Prize

The Egg
by Shannon Reid
Emmanuel College, Nerang, Qld

One small, dirty egg that's all
This is all the mother has left
Last night she had seven
Then, IT came slow and quiet
advancing steadily
Gone all seven of them!
But, no, one left
The cry of the mother bird creeps through the night
Her lost eggs
In the belly of the beast
Lost forever
Life taken from them
The mother lost too, in her sadness.
