Cyclone
by Sydney Driffield
Burpengary State School, Burpengary, Qld
Dark clouds gather overhead;
Light fills the sky;
Thunder drums loudly and noises take to the air.
The clouds burst open and
rain falls
Upon the people below;
Droplets pelt the cars, trucks and buses, and wind
blows down trees and shrubs.
The lightning strikes;
Hail smashes vehicle windows;
People screaming and shouting in pain and trying
to get away.
Noises stop and the wind slows;
The rain stops bucketing down;
Clouds lighten and blow away and the sun comes
out to shine.
Houses destroyed and possessions gone;
This is a time of sorrow;
Nothing left, everything gone and people crying
in disbelief.
Eagle
by Melanie Hooper
Churchill State School, Ipswich, Qld
Delicate oval shaped egg hatching
like a glass vase cracking,
Hollow grassy nest falling like leaves from a
tree,
Bushy green tree swaying like a hand waving goodbye,
Long curved claws tearing
like a knife through food,
Sharp orange beak opening like a flower.
Confusion
by Henry Noller
Brisbane Grammar Mid School, Brisbane, Qld
Confusion is pure grey
It tastes like nothing
It smells like the cold damp air
It looks like a school with nobody there
It sounds like the tick tock of a
clock
It feels like being locked in a empty room
