Books
by Aisling Miller
St. Ita's Primary School, Dutton Park, Qld
Dragons flying in the sky
Queens and pirates passing by
Wizards casting magic spells
Fairies making wishing wells
Magic lands of creatures strange
And climbers on the mountain range
Treasures dug up with a spade
Magic potion ready-made
Discoveries of different lands
And all of this is in my hands!
"Lights off now" my mother cries
I put my book down and shut my eyes
I just love books! I'm sure they are
The best thing in this world by far
Athena’s Will
by Tatiana Mills
Columbia Grammar, New York, New York, USA
An assertive easel,
adventuresome paint,
glossy water,
elements of
a canvas
beauty.
Crimson red,
the brush
dives,
holding back
a giggle
when paint
is splattered
on the canvas.
Fiery orange,
the brush
twirls,
thinking
of autumn’s
changing leaves
when paint
is smudged
on the canvas.
Amber yellow,
the brush
falls,
feeling
at peace
when paint
flies
over the canvas.
Azure blue
the brush
swims,
creating
tremendous skies
when paint
sneaks
over the canvas.
Bronze brown,
the brush
tickles,
sending
magic and life
when paint
trickles
on the canvas.
