Alone
by Holly Brown
St Joseph’s Primary School, North Ipswich, Qld

Sitting near the door,
On the cold, hard floor.
I sit and sit and sit
But still nobody comes.
I am lonely
I am desolate
I want someone to talk too
A friend, strong and true blue
A friend who will listen to all of my worries
A friend to stay and play,
and not leave me in a hurry.

Believe
by Taine Baldwin Core
Yarramundi, NSW

Being very quiet, he received the gift of his life, as
Everyday he made a new discovery about the world. He
Lived life with compassion and courage. His
Idea was never to go out with hatred and disdain. He had
Elaborate plans to save the world, but learnt a
Very simple truth; that humble love, shared without a fuss,
Eventually overcomes pain

Butterfly
by Shanara Collingwood
Silkstone State School, Silkstone, Qld

Before I evolve I eat holes in your leaves
I build a cocoon and wait to leave
When it's time my cocoon opens
I spread my wings and nothing's broken
I flyaway with nothing spoken

Brothers
by Shelby
McQuilty
Warrill View State School, Warrill View, Qld

Brothers are very stupid, they really have no clue
They run around like they own the place, and have really stinky shoes
They show off like they know everything, they think they're smarter than girls
Sell all the encyclopedias, here come the smartest people in the world
Mucking around they are so annoying
I'm tired of hearing them say that everything I do is boring
Although most times they are a pain
And most of the time they drive me insane
They have their ways to make you smile
By telling jokes every once in a while
Loving at times, there to comfort you
I will be there to comfort them too
