The stars have fallen out of the sky,
And onto empty streets to cast shadows.
If a light moves in the heavens, it is no comet,
But a metal bird carrying briefcases and ties
From one meeting to another;
Or perhaps uniting families and friends;
Or tearing lovers apart.
Behind every suburban door lies a history,
An anthology of tales – of childhoods had and lost,
Of pain, of laughter…
Until the bookshelves of every street
Are crammed with the memories of millions.
The city is but a cold conglomeration of lives.
Filled only with stories lost and dreams forgotten.
